    Somaliland jails four journalists amid media protest

    Somaliland police have today detained four journalists after media workers went on protest against police.

Somaliland police have today detained four journalists after media workers went on protest against police.
 
Early on Tuesday morning the journalists working in Hargeysa gathered in the city centre of Hargeysa as they begun to protest of the release of convicted assassination attempt mastermind who was in jail but released in this week by corrupt police members.
 
In April, two gunmen identified by authorities as police officers, raided the office of Hubaal newspaper and attacked its staff after a series of critical articles accusing the government of nepotism and misuse of office. One police officer were arrested and has been in jail since then as the other one escaped.
 
According to Hubaal Newspaper editor, The arrested police officer were then released without any reason by corrupt police officers who were paid with bribes.
 
The police intervened the protest as the journalists were moving to reach the front gate of the presidential house. Four journalists were detained by the police as their cameras and cellphones were confiscated.
 
Ibraahin Khadar Siciid, of Jamhuuriye newspaper, Xasan Maal Dhidar of Universal TV, Siciid Khadar and Cabdisalaan of Bulsho Tv were detained to a police custody.
 
Somaliland journalists union condemned the arrest and called for immediate release of the four journalists.
